Young at Art Children’s Museum is an award-winning museum based in Davie, FL dedicated to providing inspiring, interactive experiences in which art is central to shaping young minds and enriching our community.We were approached to partner in positioning an ambitious capital fundraising campaign that would fund a new facility for the museum while meeting a critical need for children and families in South Florida.

In our process of executing the research and strategic development, we quickly realized that Young At Art Museum was vastly unlike any other children’s museum in the area or even the country. YAA’s vision, programming, and practices are based on a fundamental belief that art is an essential ingredient for a child’s growth and development. This is a vision that they hold on to with passionate determination, and it shows.

Through the YAA team’s tireless work, the ongoing capital campaign, and an important public partnership with Broward County, the museum has facilitated the building of the new 55,000 square-foot facilities, the first GOLD-LEED certified building in Broward County. A team of exceptional professionals joined YAA’s vision to create a unique and genuinely remarkable South Florida family experience. We were honored to be part of the design team, which included Glavovic Studio (Architecture), Architecture is Fun and Red Box Work Shop (Exhibition Design and fabrication), and many others.

The museum’s brand represents the unique vision and programming of YAA while positioning it in its rightful place as a credible and significant player in the landscape of museums in the country and the world.

Launching conscious culinary

Miami Dade College saw the opportunity to establish a culinary school at the forefront of sustainability and food culture. MoK2 was approached to help refine that concept and develop the brand strategy to achieve the ideal perception among students and the public and drive enrollment. Capturing and communicating an authentic purpose was essential. Visual and experiential tools help the brand to live up to the tagline “food, culture, innovation”. This essence was infused in every aspect of the original brand. We were able to work with the development team to deliver an experience that could be seen, heard, and felt across all interfaces: from interiors to communication, advertising, and unique enrollment outreach.

Whether it was a food truck called “Alphabite,” or an unexpected interaction with a vending machine, a scratch and sniff hallway, or a spinning community planting guide, every touchpoint or message was creatively fashioned to engage a conversation about sustainability, healthy eating, and the creative satisfaction of a culinary career. The integrated approach included various strategies incorporated into naming, identity, communication, interior experiences, marketing, and even the curriculum. Developing the right messaging and brand strategy was essential to positioning Miami Culinary Institute as a trusted, one-of-a-kind educational experience that prepares its students for a successful, responsible, and conscious career in the culinary arts.

Transforming lives on Bostons island of opportunity

Just offshore in the Boston harbor lies an island of opportunity. Camp Harbor View is a unique experience that transforms the lives of hundreds of kids from challenged neighborhoods. It was conceived ten years ago when Boston’s beloved Mayor Menino approached Jack Connors with his concerns about Boston youth’s options during the long summer holidays. Twelve years after its inception, thousands of lives have been touched and transformed. It is a powerful reminder of the importance of how positive intervention at critical points in children’s development can change outcomes for not only individuals but communities and even the city of Boston.

We were approached to help this well-established and loved brand shift its messaging to evolve donor and public perceptions and most importantly position the brand and communication to accommodate shifts in their long-term fundraising strategies. Our involved brand strategies helped to shift internal culture, and perspectives, a new identity and communication tools including a new robust website and other key communication tools that positioned the desired visual and verbal messaging to effectively grow culture and meet targets.

Building the Right Environment for Global Success

Owens-Illinois (O-I) is a century-old Fortune 500 company, one of the world’s largest manufacturer of glass containers. We were asked to develop an innovative environment while implementing the O-I brand to their new Latin American HQ in Coral Gables, Florida. The design execution of the environment required an authentic representation of Master Brand, and it’s visual and verbal messages; while allowing this HQ Environment to connect with the identity and culture of its Latin American Division. We worked with management, the architects, and interior designers to ensure that the branding overlay experience in the headquarters was bold, friendly, and, most of all, uniquely OI Latin America. The result was an environment that honored the world wide brand but made this space respectful and representative of the multiple Latin American offices it managed.
